New Delhi: There can be only one No. 1. And this space cannot be shared with anyone else. The winds of change sweeping the BJP after Narendra Modi’s elevation as the BJP campaign committee chief have underlined this principle like never before. And this is going to be reflected in the party’s campaign posters as well as slogan.
The party is all set to make a major shift from its earlier practice of projecting collective leadership in the posters. In the new posters, only Modi will be projected and no other national leaders.
So far, the party projected Atal Behari Vajpayee, L K Advani and the existing BJP chief in its posters, while placing the photo of the constituency’s candidate in the lower half.
But this will change with the party launching its new poster at the party’s Hyderabad conference. The party is set to launch two sets of posters. One will have Modi in different poses while the other will have Modi towering over the image placed in the lower half of the local leader.
Even the BJP’s new slogan centres around Modi. The old slogan, “Sushasan Sankalp, BJP Vikalp (BJP only alternative for good governance)” was party specific. But the new slogan is individualistic: “Nai Soch, Nai Ummeed (Novel Thought, New Hope),” says the slogan, spun around Modi’s image of “Change” that his spin doctors have projected.
Curiously, the decision to change the slogan and poster has been taken by the BJP’s campaign committee which is headed by Modi himself.
