New Delhi: Yasin Bhatkal, the founder of Indian Mujahideen and prime accused in a series of terror attacks in India was arrested by National Investigative Agency from Indo-Nepal border in the wee hours of Thursday.Bhatkal, who is listed in the most wanted list of the NIA, was arrested along with another Indian Mujahideen operative, Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi, who’s believed to have planted the bombs, and is the head of terror group organsations in India.
Home Minister Shinde has confirmed the arrest, he said “Yasin Bhatkal and his close-aide were caught last night by Bihar police and are being interrogated.”
“Yasin has been traced and he is under the custody of the Bihar Police. The interrogation is going on. Till now, this is the only information,” Shinde told reporters outside Parliament House. Asked as to which agency picked him up, the Minister said, “intelligence agencies” but refused to disclose their names.
According to E Newspaper of India sources, National Security Advisor has met Prime Minister Manmohan Sing and has briefed him about the arrest of Bhatkal.
Bhaktal who is believed to be involved in the 2012 Pune bomb blasts and is said to have been the one who planted the bomb in the German Bakery bomb blasts was reportedly caught near Gorakhpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh, after a tip-off from the FBI to the NIA.
30-year-old Bhatkal, one of India’s most wanted terrorists, had been on the run for over five years. Bhatkal, also known as Mohammed Ahmed Siddhibappa, along with three aides Tahaseen Akhtar Wasim Aktar Shaikh (23), Asadulla Akhtar Javed Akhtar (26) and Waqas alias Ahmed (26), was allegedly behind three

The IM leader is wanted in a string of terror attacks in Ahmedabad, Surat, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad.
Bhatkal, co-founded the Indian Mujahideen in 2008 with Riyaz Bhatkal and Abdul Subhan Qureshi. He hails from Karntaka. The IM is sponsored and patronized by Pakistan’s Lashkar-e-Taiba, according to intelligence agencies.
