New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Monday targeted Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for using American President Barack Obama’s election pitch.
Raecting to Modi’s “yes we can” comment during his Hyderabad rally on Sunday, Digvijaya tweeted, “Now we have a FAKE DESI OBAMA too. FEKU at his best!”
While addressing a packed crowd in the southern state on Monday, Modi used Obama’s war cry to flag off his party’s election campaign for next year’s Lok Sabha polls. Modi was referring to the dream of building a “Congress-free India”. He also raised the slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram”.
The BJP poster boy, whose popularity seems to be growing with each passing day, took on the UPA government at the Centre over the issue of bifurcation of Andhra Pardesh and Pakistan’s repeated cease-fire violations. Unveiling his vision of the government, Modi said its only religion should be “India first”, its mantra should be the Constitution, its belief should be “Bharat Bhakti”, its power should be people’s power and its worship should be the welfare of 125 crore people. Thousands of people, mostly youth, attended the rally at the Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad. It was the first of 100 such meetings planned by the BJP in the run-up to polls.
The Gujarat Chief Minister said the path of development alone can change India’s destiny.
“Solution to all our problem lies in development and in the welfare of all sections of people but the Congress is not ready to tread on this path,” BJP poll panel chief said.
