Aish to sport Dhoom 2 look for Happy Anniversary

New Delhi: Exactly three years after she shared screenspace with hubby Abhishek Bachchan inRaavan, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will make her comeback with her better half in Happy Anniversary

According to sources, the former Miss World will sport Dhoom 2 look for the movie to enthrall her audience.
“Aishwarya is working hard for the film. She is working hard to lose weight. I can say she will be seen as ‘Dhoom Girl’ in the film,” the film’s producer Gaurang Doshi said.
Doshi, who has produced films like Bawandar and Aankhen, said it was the script that convinced the actress who had taken a sabbatical after becoming a mother.
“I share a good relationship with Bachchan but it was the script that convinced Aishwarya and Abhishek. I think Abhi and Ash is the ideal couple and they both look good together. The film will be widely shot in South Africa,” said Doshi.
Set to go on the floors early next year, Happy Anniversary will be directed by Prahlad Kakkar and will hit the screens next year.

Security guards of SP leader’s kin thrash chemist

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) is again in the news for wrong reasons. At a time when a spurt in incidents of crime and violence is marring the rule of Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh, another instance of hooliganism of the party has come to light in the national capital. A chemist was beaten up mercilessly by the security officers of a senior SP leader’s daughter-in-law just because he had run out of medical supplies.
Ashok, the owner of a chemist shop in South Delhi, in a complaint lodged with the police has said that he was abused and threatened by Richa Yadav, who is reported to be the daughter-in-law of a senior SP leader, after he refused to give medicine she was looking for.
Narrating the details, Ashok said that on September 17 a man arrived at his shop in Yusuf Sarai area and demanded a cough syrup. He told the customer that the syrup he is looking for is unavailable but he has its substitute, following which, he said, the customer called up someone to confirm whether he should buy the alternative medicine or not. After the conversation, the man made the chemist talk to the woman, who not only abused him but even threatened him with dire consequences.
Later, on her direction, “Four men including police guards of the leader barged into the shop and beat me mercilessly,” said the chemist.
According to sources, after being informed by the passers-by, police reached the spot but by then the miscreants had already left the spot. The police also checked the CCTV cameras installed in the shop which recorded the sequences of the whole event. However, the complaint has rued out that inspite of the complaint being lodged nine days ago, no progress has been made in the case so far. The chemist has alleged that the police officials are hesitating to take any action as the accused is the daughter-in-law of a powerful politician.

12 killed in J&K terror attack

Jammu / New Delhi: Twelve people were killed in a twin terror attack in the Jammu region, casting a shadow on the upcoming meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif.

The BJP, which has been opposing the meeting between the two prime ministers in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, said there was no point in talking to Pakistan, which is a safe haven for the terrorists. “There is no point talking to Sharif as the situation remains the same. The attack happened because Pakistan supports terrorism,” said BJP general secretary Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
The attack follows a pattern of strikes whenever the two countries have taken an initiative towards dialogue. Militants dressed in army fatigues killed at least nine people in a police station and an army cantonment in Jammu’s Kathua district in the morning. At least five army and four police personnel were killed.
Four policemen were killed in the suicide attack on the Hiranagar police station in Kathua while three army personnel including Lt Col Bikramjeet Singh died in a similar strike shortly afterwards on the army camp at nearby Samba, officials said.
The three militants first barged into the police station near Jammu-Pathankot National Highway around 6.45 am and indiscriminately fired after hurling a grenade, police said. The militants later hijacked a tempo truck on the highway, boarded it and forced its driver to move towards Jammu, police said.
The truck was stopped outside the Army camp at Samba and the militants then opened indiscriminate firing on jawans deployed at its security gate before they stormed the premises.
They barged into the Army Mess where they resorted to heavy indiscriminate firing as troops geared up and retaliated resulting in fierce gunbattle.

Afraid of honour killing, star singer seeks police protection

New Delhi: With a spate of honour killings being reported from her state, Sonia Sharma, who shot to fame after her brief stint in a television reality show, is now requesting her parents not to follow the diktats of the khap panchayat and resort to violence.

“My family is against the concept of love marriage and I fear that we might be targeted,” Sonia told the reporter.

Sonia and Raman Kapoor had reportedly met at a concert in Pune and fell in love. Fearing that her family would not agree to their marriage, Sonia left home for a temple on Monday and never returned. The family filed a complaint stating that Sonia might have been abducted.

The police, who were baffled with the sudden disappearance of the singer, heaved a sigh of relief when Sonia contacted them and said she feared for her life, post her marriage with Raman. An official from Haryana police assured her, saying: “We will provide her security if she feels her life is in danger.”

Her better half, Raman, on the other hand added: “I am only concerned about the security of my wife and family. They are the only ones I’m bothered about.”

Sonia cleared her stance on the issue, and said: “I was not abducted. I married at my own will. I and Raman love each other very much.”

The couple, who are currently at Gurgaon, hopes that soon everything will be fine and that Sonia’s family will accept them willingly.

Bihar is 2nd least developed state

New Delhi: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s demand for a special status for his state received a fillip with Finance Minister P Chidambaram disclosing that Bihar was the second least developed state in the country as per the Raghurajan Committee report.
The Congress has been wooing JD(U) for a post-poll alliance in 2014 and granting special status to Bihar is one of the sops that the Congress leadership has been promising to Nitish Kumar. Chidambaram’s disclosure is bound to bring JD(U) closer to the Congress, particularly with the Narendra Modi axis gaining ground.

As per the Raghurajan Committee report, Odisha is the least developed state. And along with Bihar, special status could be granted to Odisha as well, on the basis of the backward index. Congress managers feel that by granting special status to Odisha, its chief minister and Biju Janata Dal leader Naveen Patnaik could be convinced to stay neutral in the event of a hung Lok Sabha in 2014. This could benefit the UPA, they feel.
The other least developed states as per Raghurajan Committee are Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Arunachal, Assam, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The report was submitted earlier this month.

BCCI to lay off non-performers

New Delhi: Being a popular cricketing face amongst fans is no longer a criteria to remain on BCCI’s graded contract list for players. If the Board’s latest move is implemented, many stars will cease to receive their salaries very soon.

The world’s richest cricket body will sign only those players who contribute significantly towards the team’s fortunes. In other words, non-performing players are bound to be axed by the board.

Currently, Team India players are divided into three grades — A, B and C. Grade A includes players like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan, and each of them are paid an annual amount of Rs 1 crore. The next grade consists of players like Harbhajan Singh, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rohit Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Irfan Pathan, who bag Rs 50 lakhs a year. The third grade comprises another 20 cricketers who are paid Rs 25 lakhs per annum.

According to BCCI sources, the board is mulling to get rid of grade C and have only 20 cricketers in its contract (grade A & B) list. BCCI, which is the riches cricketing board in the world, has apparently stated that since most of the cricketers play for their respective IPL franchisee and take home a fat sum on money every year, they might as well be removed from the board’s contract list.

This decision is likely to make things difficult for discards like Sehwag, Gambhir and Yuvraj, who are currently not in the national team. Sources said that the board is also planning to cite funds crunch as one of the reasons behind the move.

Whatever may be the case, the message for Indian cricketers appears to be loud and clear: perform or perish.

First Lady’s fear keeps Obama away from smoking

New York: Believe it or not but even the most power men in the world are scared of their wives. US President Barack Obama is a classic example of this fact.

In an admission which will amuse millions worldwide, Obama said that he stopped smoking out of fear of his wife. The unwitting admission was captured by a loose microphone.
The US President, taking part in an event on the sidelines of the annual UN General Assembly on the importance of civil society, was exchanging small talk at the end of his remarks.
In a recording taped by CNN, Obama is standing up after the event and asking the man next to him if he had given up smoking. When the question is returned to him, Obama, in a light-hearted tone with a smile on his lips, said, “I haven’t had a cigarette in probably six years. That’s because I’m scared of my wife.”
Usually known for his fit figure and healthy lifestyle, Obama has long had a weakness for cigarettes and depicted himself as a smoker in his memoir of his youth, Dreams From My Father.
The American President’s smoking addiction and his efforts to quit became favorite topics in the US media from the time he started his campaign for the White House in the 2008 election.
In his first year in office, Obama described himself as “95% cured” from smoking but admitted he has occasionally “fallen off the wagon” in his efforts.
In December 2010, then White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said that Obama had not smoked for nine months and had been “stubborn” in trying to quit, despite the stress of the job.

Asaram fraud, grabbed our properties: Nephew

Ahmedabad: There seems to be no end to Asaram Bapu’s troubles. In a shocking revelation, the self-styled godman’s own nephew narrated how the tainted preacher had cheated him and his family members of properties worth crores of rupees and had even threatened him of dire consequences if he disclosed about the latter’s secrets.

Asaram’s nephew Vinod Jethanand Sirumal, in an exclusive interview to News24, told that Asaram, who is his own uncle, was jealous of their huge fortunes and grabbed one by one all his properties, including a palatial bunglow worth over Rs 3 crores at Mount Abu in Rajasthan.

“My father, Jethanand, used to own a sugar shop in Chawal Bazar, one of the most prominent business centres in the state capital. My uncle Asaram used to stay with us.

However, he became jealous of my father’s success and usurped all our properties one by one,” said scared Vinod, who was not even willing to talk to the reporter from the channel fearing life threats from the spiritual guru.

“Later, I had gone to his ashram seeking financial help but every time I had to return empty-handed,” said Asaram’s nephew, who is no less than a beggar now.

Vinod further added that after the mysterious death of two ashram boys Dipesh and Abhishek Vaghela, he was being kept under house arrest for one month by Asaram’s aides who feared that he might leak all this information to the media.

He said both of his parents weren’t able to bear the pangs of poverty and had passed away long ago. Now, almost a pauper, he has to drive a rickshaw for his living and still has to change his location every night fearing attacks from his uncle’s aides.

Nevertheless, Vinod is waiting for the D-Day when Asaram Bapu would be severely punished for the injustice he has meted out to him and others.

US, Iran to hold first nuke talks

United Nations: In a stunning diplomatic breakthrough, the foreign ministers of arch rivals, the United States and Iran, will hold their first talks on Tehran’s contested nuclear drive at a landmark meeting Thursday. Secretary of State John Kerry and new Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will join counterparts from
Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia at the meeting at the United Nations headquarters, US officials said on Monday.High-level contacts between Iranian and US officials have been rare since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. But in another sign of a possible thaw, the White House said it was not ruling out a meeting between President Barack Obama and new Iranian counterpart Hassan Rowhani.

Suspended UP SSP threatens victims

Moradabad: Lawlessness seems to have become an everyday feature in Uttar Pradesh. Moradabad SSP Rajesh D Modak, who had recently been suspended for assaulting three of his juniors for keeping a Samajwadi Party leader waiting, has now been accused of threatening them.
Asha, Deepa and Hema, the wives of Modak’s assault victims, approached Moradabad DIG Amrendra Sengar and complained that their husbands had been put in “house arrest” by the SSP’s men. They even accused Modak of threatening them of dire consequences in case they did not follow his instructions. “A 24x 7 police vigil has been ordered by the SSP and our day-to-day movement has been restricted,” complained the ladies.
When this correspondent visited one of the victim Sunder Singh’s house in Police Lines area, he discovered that the official had been house arrested and was not allowed to step out of the main gate of his premises.
Sunder’s family members said that their mobile phones had been confiscated and that the police officers present outside their house do not even let them visit a doctor.
While the misery of the victims continues, the state police and the administration appear least bothered about the law and order situation. Despite repeated efforts, the Moradabad DIG refused to comment on the matter.

VK Singh must name ministers: Shinde

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Tuesday said that former Army chief General VK Singh should name the ministers who took money to maintain tranquility in Jammu and Kashmir.
While talking to reporters over Singh’s sensational claims, Shinde said that the Army does not give money to ministers and that if the General could provide details, the government may order a probe into the matter.
Shinde’s reaction comes in the wake of startling claims made by VK Singh during an interview to a news channel recently. Singh claimed that some ministers in J&K were paid by the Army to maintain peace and harmony in the state. Singh also claimed that the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was aware of the facts.
Meanwhile, National Conference chairman Farooq Abdullah demanded a CBI probe into the allegations leveled by the VK Singh. “I think it’s a terrible statement made by General Singh. Army has nothing to do with funding political parties. He has done a big mistake. A CBI enquiry should be ordered. If Army has used the funds for political parties then it is really wrong. The government should enquire how the funds were spent. It should be found out who allowed the funds to be spent,” he said.
Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh said that the General should have made these revelations when he was in power.

Modi’s managers working on 2-pronged Muslim strategy

New Delhi/ Bhopal: The BJP is working on a two-pronged strategy to project an “all-inclusive” face of its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on the one hand while on the other polarise voters along the communal lines in states like UP and Bihar where it suits the party.

The two-pronged strategy will differ from state to state. On the surface, the party wants to project Modi as a leader of Atal Behari Vajpayee’s stature, acceptable to all communities and classes.

This strategy applies particularly to states where there is a direct fight between the Congress and the BJP and where the party is seen as a viable alternative to the Congress. Sources say that BJP’s managers are tasked with a total image makeover for their prime ministerial candidate so that the 2002 Gujarat riots appear like a distant memory.

Sources say that as part of this strategy, Modi’s managers are ensuring the presence of a large number of Muslims in almost every rally that Modi has addressed so far. The party apparatus is working overtime to ensure huge presence of Muslims at the September 25 Bhopal rally and September 29 Delhi rally of its prime ministerial candidate.

Showcasing Muslims at Modi’s rallies is a well thought out strategy. The idea is to project Modi as a secular and seasoned candidate fit for the top job just like the BJP’s lone prime minister, Atal behari Vajpayee. In fact, insiders say that Modi’s image builders have even studied Atal Behari Vajpayee’s mannerisms while delivering speeches in detail.

They give their inputs to Modi accordingly. However, while efforts are afoot to refurbish Modi’s image, the BJP’s strategists are also working on polarising voters along the communal lines in states like UP and Bihar, where the party is pitted against its rivals in a multi-cornered contest.

The BJP spin doctors feel that polarising voters in a multi-cornered contest will help the party. While this plan will not be revealed on surface, the undercurrent of polarisation will be very strong, as was seen in the build up of the Muzaffarnagar riots.

Obama, Singh lunch at WH with Miss America!

Washington: A former top American diplomat has hoped that President Barack Obama invites Nina Davuluri when he hosts Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for lunch at the White House next Friday, in recognition of the contribution of Indian-Americans to the United States.
Nina Davuluri, 24, is the first Indian-American to have been crowned with the Miss American title. “When Prime Minister Singh and President Obama get together, I am hoping that they might invite the latest Miss America, the first Indian American to have won that  wonderful honour.

May be they can ask her down for lunch,” Karl Inderfurth, the former Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs from 1997-2001 said.

“This is further indication of the people-to-people ties. The Indian-American community is doing so much in the US now...they basically own the American spelling bee. She is the first Indian American to win the Miss America. This is a good story,” said Inderfurth, who currently is the Senior Adviser and Wadhwani Chair in US-India Policy Studies of the prominent think-tank Center for Strategic and International Studies.
“I think her performance was a Bollywood fusion dance. This is good exposure for Americans,” he said. Singh would be in Washington for a day on a working visit for a meeting with Obama on September 27.

UP riots: Warrant issued against political leaders

Muzaffarnagar: A court on Wednesday issued warrant against three BSP leaders, a BJP and Congress leader for inciting communal riots that claimed 48 lives in the district.

The warrants were also slapped against BSP leaders Qadir Rana, Jameel Ahmed and Noor Salim Rana, BJP MLA Suresh Rana, Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait, Naresh Tikait and Congress leader Saidul Jama.
Almost a week after four MLAs were named in an FIR charging them with instigating communal tension in Muzaffarnagar, UP Police on Wednesday cordoned off the state Assembly to arrest them.

Meanwhile, BJP president Rajnath has demanded President’s Rule in Uttar Pradesh, and accused the ruling state government of working on communal lines.

Rajasthan HC to hear Asaram’s bail plea today

Jodhpur: The Rajasthan High Court will hear the bail plea of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu on Wednesady in connection with the sexual assault case against him. The HC on Monday had deferred till September 18 the hearing on the bail petition of self-styled godman, who is in jail for alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl.

The bail application comes in the backdrop of the fresh allegation from godman’s former medical consultant Amrit Prajapati who  had  revealed that the self-styled godman was an opium addict. “The 72-year-old is an addict. I used to give him opium earlier and now Neeta does that. He is not suffering from any disease and is just restless for the drug,” Prajapati said.
However, this is not the first time that Prajapati has made allegations against the tainted spiritual guru. He had earlier accused Asaram of womanizing and consuming Viagra.

Senior advocate Ram Jethmalani, who appeared a  Asarams defence counsel on Wednesday, had earlier argued that the FIR, the scene of crime, age of the girl and the entire case itself was fabricated.

Jethmalani also mentioned that the girl (victim) was afflicted with a chronic disease, “which draws a woman to a man”, and said this was subject to police investigation.

Earlier, Asaram and his aide Shiva appeared before the District and Sessions’ Court on Monday, which extended their judicial custody till September 30. During their appearance, Asaram requested the judge to allow his personal female doctor to treat his “chronic neurological disease”, referred to by him as “trinadi shool”. When asked about the disease, he told the judge that it is a disorder which deprives him of a sound sleep. Judge Manoj Kumar Vyas, however, refused to consider the plea in the absence of defence counsel.

Provocative dressing behind rapes? India stands divided

New Delhi: India’s fastest growing news channel, News 24’s new show Badlenge Hum, Badlega India, focusing on the burning issues of the country is going viral on social networking sites.

The latest episode of the programme debated at length the psyche behind the remarks of December 16 rapists’ counsel AP Singh that girls invited rape by dressing up provocatively. News 24 Managing Editor Ajit Anjum initiated the debate on pertinent questions that have cropped up in the society ever since Singh
made these remarks on the day the court handed death sentence to four rapists: Are girls responsible for rape? Doesn’t the other half of India want freedom, just like its male counterpart? Will the Indian men ever change their outlook towards women? Why does an average Indian girl feel insecure and live in fear?
The debate saw sparks flying with young college students asking Singh whether rapes didn’t happen at homes whether provocative clothes were responsible for such incidents of rape.

Singh not only stuck to his guns but took his arguments ridiculous levels saying that less rapes took place in winter because girls are fully clothed.

Anjum reminded Singh that he had forgotten that the very persons he had defended were convicted and sentenced to deaths for the rape that took place at the height of winters: December 16.

Social activist and Alka Lamba said that her battle was with the outlook of people like Singh. Another activist Shaista Amber said that Singh should not be made to continue as a lawyer.

The social networking sites reflect a divided India on the issues raised by Singh’s controversial remarks. Thousands and thousands of people are attacking people like Singh while thousands have come out in support of Singh’s arguments.

There are the likes of Rai Bharti from Punjab who said on Facebook that 60 per cent of rapes were attributed to skin show in Bollywood films while 20 per cent of parents were responsible for rapes because they didn’t rein in their daughters.

But for every Rai Bharti, there were many like Madhuri Swami from Bikaner who asked Singh whether his logic of provocative clothes applied in cases whse like ere young six-year-old or seven-year-old girls were raped.

Gehlot min booked for rape

Jaipur: A court on Tuesday directed the Jaipur police to file a case against Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Babulal Nagar for raping a woman on the pretext of providing her a ‘suitable job’.

Speaking about the tainted minister Babulal, who may pose fresh problems for the government ahead of elections, chief minister Ashok Gehlot said, “No one is above the Law. I think the court should be allowed to take its own course in the case.” The police have booked the minister for rape following the court directive that came following the victim’s petition alleging that minister Babulal Nagar had raped her on the pretext of promising her job.

In her petition to the court, the woman alleged that the minister telephoned her on September 11 and called her to his residence saying that there was some urgent work. She alleged that the minister promised her a job, attacked her after she spurned his advances and raped her. No family member was present at the premises at that time. “After raping me, the minister threatened me saying that if I went to the police, I will be killed just like Bhanwri Devi and my son will be killed,” the victim said in her petition to the court.

Meanwhile, Babulal Nagar has denied the victim’s allegation terming them baseless and saying: “Previously, too, she involved me in a similar case and registered an FIR.”

With the victim drawing a parallel to the Bhanwari Devi case, the allegation has come as a fresh headache for the Gehlot government ahead of elections. Mahipal Maderna, a sacked minister, is currently in jail in the Bhanwari Devi murder and blackmail case that had brought disrepute to the Gehlot government. Bhanwari, a midwife, was killed on September 1, 2011, allegedly at the behest of Maderna and Congress MLA Malkhan Singh. The CBI probed the matter and alleged that she was blackmailing both the leaders over her sex CDs with the two politicians.

DM passes obnoxious remarks on soldiers’ families

Aligarh: The Aligarh District Magistrate on Monday made obnoxious remarks against families of slain soldiers during a press meet.
DM Rajiv Rautela said that the country always howls after a soldier dies at border. “Around 5000 soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan so far, but their families never shed tears on their sacrifice,” he said.
The soldiers crib about getting only twelve years of service. They are unhappy about getting a petty pension post retirement. Each time a soldier dies, his family members want a leader to visit them or a petrol pump as compensation. How can a country run like this, he questioned.
The District Magistrate also gave suggestions to the media and told journalists to be more accurate while reporting stories.

NIA teams take Bhatkal to Goa

Panji: The National Investigation Agency’s teams visited Goa along with IM co-founder Yasin Bhatkal to probe his links in the coastal state. Bhatkal had earlier visited Goa, police said.

The teams, which were in the state for a day on Monday, took Bhatkal to places like Anjuna beach, Mapusa, Panaji and Vasco, which he had reportedly visited during the last decade.
The NIA teams were here but did not share their intelligence inputs with the state police, Goa police Deputy Inspector General O P Mishra said. However, sources in the police department said that the NIA teams were trying to ascertain whether Bhatkal had been recruiting gullible youths from Goa into his terror network.
Goa was on alert during the last year end following inputs that the state, which attracts 25 lakh tourists annually, may be on the hit list of terrorists. 30-year-old Yasin, arrested along Indo-Nepal border on August 29, is alleged to be involved in a series of blasts from 2006 onwards across the country. Bhatkal, who was on run since 2008, is wanted in cases of terror attacks in Ahmedabad, Surat, Bangalore, , Pune, Delhi and Hyderabad. Bhatkal is also wanted in the German Bakery bomb blast in Pune on February 13, 2010, that left 17 people dead.

Washington shooting survivors recall horror

The survivors of Monday’s deadly mass shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington D.C. recalled horror scenes of panic and personal loss. At least 12 people were killed in the incident.

“It was like pop, pop, pop,” Patricia Ward, a logistics management specialist who was at the Navy Yard cafeteria when the shooting took place, was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
“And in a few seconds it stopped and then pop, pop, pop, pop, we were just flailing.”
Witnesses said a gunman opened fire from a fourth-floor overlook on people in the cafeteria of Building 157. Others spoke of a gunman firing in a third-floor hallway. It was not clear whether they were describing the same gunman or separate ones.
“All the people that were in the cafeteria, we all panicked,” said Ward, after she was rescued.
Meanwhile, Vishnu Pandit, a person of Indian origin, was listed among seven of the 12 Washington Navy Yard shooting victims identified by the authorities. All of the victims are described as civilians or contractors.

Uddhav advises Modi to stick to Hindutava

Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Monday praised Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in his column in party mouthpiece Saamna. Thackeray, who had earlier backed Modi as BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, was quick to advise the Gujarat Chief Minister about “sticking to the Hinduatava agenda”.
Thackeray said in his piece that his party had supported Modi’s candidature with full heart so that he can pump new energy in the Hindus of the country.
He said that Balasaheb was a real “Hridayhindusamarat” and he had no interest to holding a prime position. He added that Balasaheb was of view that a Hindu leader should run the country.
Thackeray said that Modi is spearheading BJP’s campaign for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections as ‘Senapati’ and everyone should back him.
Thackeray said that his party sincerely hoped that the Gujarat Chief Minister will never compromise on the Hinduatava agenda.
It must be noted that Thackeray spoke to Narendra Modi a day before his anointment as BJP’s PM candidate. While Shiv Sena’s backing made Modi’s life easier, it cornered BJP patriarch L.K. Advani.
