Patna: “Amitabh Uncle, please save my sister Rimjhim. Remember, you had promised to help me five years back at a function at Barabanki which was attended by thousands of people,” wrote Anjali on Wednesday, reminding the Superstar of his promise that was never kept.
Amitabh Bachchan had reportedly promised to help children during the brick laying ceremony of a school named after his daughter-in-law Aishwarya in Barabanki, Bihar, in 2008.
Anguished over her sister’s ill health, Anjali addressed a letter to Senior Bachchan, requesting the star to help her out.
“Amitabh Uncle can never cheat on us,” she believes. However, the help promised never reached proper hands and the two girls continue to lead a miserable lifestyle even today. Anjali in the letter claimed, “He promised that he will oversee my education so that I could become a doctor. His voice, his words ring in my years even today loud and clear. He even gave a cheque of Rs 10 lakh.
“The aid never reached us. As to who took the money we are clueless.” She revealed that although she was promised to have educational assistance from the same school free of cost, nothing went that way.
Anjali also expressed her concern by saying: “Ever since my sister has started falling ill, I have grown weak.
I am afraid to lose the only companion I have for life. We have been together since childhood, sharing our joys and sorrows. I won’t be able to live without her. I will become a doctor one day, Amitabh Uncle, I won’t disappoint you. I do not need the money. Just help my sister, she urged.” According to reports, following the stint with Bachchan Senior, help poured in from various portals for the deprived girls.
An annual sum of two lakh is released for the sisters and international aid amounting to over 50 lakh has been contributed so far. Strangely, the whereabouts of the missing funds is not known.
Big B had given a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to their mother who is missing after getting the money. She is learnt to have been working in a red light area while the girls’ father is said to be serving in jail.
