Indore: Self-styled godman Asaram Bapu threatened the Rajasthan government before his arrest.
An audio tape of his last address to disciples reveals that the spiritual guru openly threatened the government to get ready for the consequences of his arrest in the wake of upcoming elections.
In his address, Asaram had said that he is being targeted as if he was Osama bin Laden and after his arrest, his four crore supporters will come out on streets and will start Jail Bharo Andolan in protests.
Asaram had alleged that the Jodhpur Police wants to let him off but is not being able to do so because of the state government.
“They want to victimise the Hindus. They are taking advantage of my patience. They would never attempt to arrest me if four crore saints would have come in my support, “he had said.
The tape also reveals how the godman, who has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl, didn’t want to give his blood sample to police for investigation. He had said,” I will not give my blood sample to invite disease like AIDS.....I will quit food in jail and it is up to the god now.”
Asaram had also denied his aide Shiva’s involvement in the case, saying that he is innocent.
The spiritual guru had said that he would like to advice the Rajasthan government that it should follow its conscience and not go by the pressure of its superiors.
He had said that if his disciples would be ill-treated, the government may face defeat in the elections.
“I have asked Manmohan Singh to run his government for next three-four years after then my supporters will be able to run it, “he had said.
He had also added that Madhya Pradesh government would not let the Rajasthan police to take him away but it has its own compulsions.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family has alleged that it has been getting threats. The 16-year-old’s father on Wednesday said that his relatives were being threatened after spiritual guru Asaram’s arrest.
