Jodhpur: The Jodhpur Central Jail officials are making all efforts to appease tainted spiritual guru Asaram Bapu calm. Sources told this newspaper that Asaram has been throwing tantrums inside the jail and refuses to follow rules.
In an incident, the godman, who has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl, refused to have the gur, chana and tea breakfast offered by the jail officials and instead ate dry fruits that he brought with him before getting arrested.
In another incident when the self-styled godman refused to have dinner, the jail officials had to arrange home-cooked oats for him.
Asaram’s two supporters, who were arrested when they assaulted the reporter and cameraman of a leading news channel recently, have been surprisingly allowed to stay in his cell to serve him.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Asaram’s close aide Shiva revealed that the spiritual guru prefers to meet women in private and doesn’t keep good looking men around him. During an interrogation session with the Jodhpur police officials, Shiva said that self-styled godman had apprehension that the women around him might be attracted to good looking men who worked around him as “Sevadars”.
He also told that he had called the victim on behest of Asaram. Meanwhile, a Jodhpur court on Wednesday rejected the bail pleas of Asaram Bapu, a move which will clearly jolt the 72-year-old godman who has been in the centre of several controversies in the past few years.
