Jodhpur: A Jodhpur court on Monday extended tainted spiritual guru Asaram Bapu’s judicail custody for another 14 days.
However, the Rajasthan High Court will hear Asaram’s bail plea later in the day. According to the present investigation, the accusations against the godman have proven right, public prosecutor Mahipal Bishnoi said.
Earlier, Asaram’s close aides were learnt to be making all efforts to intimidate the victim’s family. In a video clip available with this newspaper, Asaram’s follower Shyam was heard threatening a friend of victim’s father by saying, “jaan chali jaayegi ( you will be killed)”. The recording of the conversation was given by the victim’s family to their lawyer.
“My client is being threatened of dire consequences if the complaint is not taken back. The person has also vowed to make things difficult for the whole family if the government is changed,” Manish Vyas, victim’s counsel said.
This is not the first time that the controversial godman’s supporters have tried to attack or intimidate people. Earlier, Asaram’s supporters attacked the media for showing him in bad light. A Hindi news channel reporter had to be admitted to a hospital after he was assaulted by Asaram’s supporters in Rajasthan.
