Azam Khan bats for sand mafia | Breaking news in india

Muzaffarnagar: You can expect Azam Khan to give quotable quotes, but this time around he has definitely crossed the line. The Samajwadi Party leader, reacting to a reporter’s query on the presence of sand mafia in the state, said, “Kudrat ke maal par sabka haq hai. Ram naam ki loot machi hai, loot machi hai loot lo. (Everyone is entitled to a stake in nature’s gift. Grab it all in the name of Lord Ram)”.

The statement of the minister for urban development will add insult to the injury Akhilesh Yadav’s government in Uttar Pradesh has inflicted on honest state officers, by suspending Greater Noida SDM Durga Shakti Nagpal who was leading a crackdown on the sand mafia.

Considering the fact that Nagpal was suspended following her crackdown on the sand mafia in the region, his statement flies in the face of the government that seems to have gone on a damage-control mode, even as the opposition has slammed it for poor law and order.

In further embarrassment to Yadav’s government, the IAS lobby has lodged a protest with the chief secretary even as political pressure has been building up against the decision.

Adding fuel to the fire is that fact that the chief minister has defended the suspension, saying that it was done to prevent a communal flare up.
